My recent top 6 fave artists
Each month I have a few days where I feel extremely art deprived. On these days the world seems very grey, manufactured, robotic, cold, and bleak. My brain literally tells me "you NEED to see colour" and I spend the day, looking through my favorite artist's profiles and finding new blogs and such.
Last Friday was one of those days and I thought I'd share some of the beautiful, and abstract paintings, photos, and music I came across.
1. Emmit Fenn
It would be an understatement to say that I am obsessed with his music. I have listened to his cover of Yellow and Pouring Rain non-stop. The day I came across this singer-songwriter on soundcloud, I was in Gracie's, looking out towards the alumni field. It was snowing like crazy and the cold was steeping through the window I was next to. And his music just perfectly captured the grey-blizzard-shade, stillness, peacefulness, and silence of where i was. He's also very attractive. Also, Emmit is a cool name.

2. Provodnik- aka @moiprovodnik on insta.
This person's paintings reminds me a bit of Chagall. Maybe it's the colours, but I also think it is the style of painting. It's really washed-out but also bold. I also get Turner vibes. Waiting for this person to have an exhibit.

3. Laura Brennan
I came across her through one of Billie Eillish's posts. There's something raw and authentic about her content. There are no filters, the pictures themselves are nature-loving, the lighting in her posts/pictures makes me think of the place I once was, somewhere in the past. If I could describe her work in one word, it would be refreshing. Her sister's content is nice too. So glad their accounts are public. And like seriously take a moment and look at this newspaper cover by her, it's breathtaking.

4. Petra Ericksson
The colour, depth/"dome" and smoothness pf her work. It melts in my eyes.

5. Nikie Zimov
I am completely blown away by this person's art, probably my favorite out of the 5 I've listed so far. So simple and so beautiful and textured, reminds me a lot of the regionalist painter Jean Paul Lemieux. There's also a touch of Paul Gauguin in there. It's so nice to look at. The shapes and colour evoke both a cold yet intimae feeling at the same time.

6. Jean Paul Lemieux
Damn, now that I've mentioned Jean Paul Lemieux, I have to talk about him. I came across him during my last year of high school when I had to do a research project on regionalist painters in Canada. Unfortunately, his works are scattered all across the country and some are even in people's damn homes (a rant for another time), so you can't find a lot of his works in one place. One day, I will plan a trip to go see as many of his works as possible. His paintings are supposedly huge. Just imagine standing close in front of one of these:
