Tintamarrathon Tour 2019: Solitaire
The two week Tintammarthon tour is coming to an end. The last show is today at 4pm in the Motyer-Fancy Theatre. After the show, I will begin to pack my bags and head home. The past few weeks consisted of memorizing a brand new script, long car rides to different schools in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, living off of Tim Hortons, only listening to songs prior to the 2000s or musicals, lifting heavy stage sets out of the cargo van, and being slightly intimated by high schoolers. I've been performing in front of an average of 100-600 students per day. It was quite an experience. I had totally forgotten how energy-intensive acting and general nervousness can be. Sitting in on long car rides is also not the most energizing thing in the world. At the same time, I really got to know everybody in the cast through these car rides and by living with them in Bermuda House.
Here is the rough outline/order of the tour. On most days we came back to Sackville for sleep but there were two nights where we slept out.
And just to show what Alec calls the f-word ~ fatigue.
I will admit my french did get better as the script was a bilingual play (60% french, 40% english). I definitely plan on learning more french in the near future. It just might be the most beautiful language in the world.
At the beginning, I was pretty nervous about forgetting my lines in front of all the students, particularly in front of high schoolers, as the french parts are not my strongest suit. It helped a lot that most of the people in the play were bilingual and could translate and know how to pronounce the french words. Our whole crew was really supportive and there probably couldn't have been a stronger team.
Truth be told, there was a lot of laughter; there were a lot of sunsets. Aside from long hours and the occasional 5:45am start to the day, it was really fun and I enjoyed all of it. And just few more photos.
