Finished my first final exam
Hi,
I haven't blogged in so long but seeing the picturesque snow outside, this seems like a good time to check-in. Today I woke up early at 6am to do some final studying before my microeconomics exam and so even though it's still 12am, it feels like it should be the end of the day. The exam was long and people were definitely scrambling at the end to finish it. I got out at 11:30am and got a spinach wrap for lunch and oat hot chocolate. Don't really have anything specific to write about but thought I'd share some recent pictures and small thoughts~

Yesterday I found a tube of pure red lipstick. I hadn't put on a red lip since high school. It didn't really suit me then but yesterday I was like "i'm bored let me try this". And I actually liked it this time! I've also been trying this dark purple colour and it makes me feel fearless. When we no longer need to wear masks in public, I will definitely be wearing this red lipstick and the dark purple one.
I've spent some time in the past exploring Buddhism. I've read a few books on it and incorporated daily breathing practices when things get stressful but the practices have never stuck long-term. I have too much energy and a lack of patience. So a new somewhat "spiritual" practice that I've gotten into recently is astrology. About a month ago I spent a full day learning how to read my birth chart. Some people take astrological signs as gospel but what's nice about it is doesn't have been such a serious thing. You can take it as seriously or as unseriously as you want. There's so much room for interpretation so you can really use astrology as a self-guided practice. Pretty interesting.
My sun sign and zodiac is stating that my true self is free-spirited, social, optimistic, rebellious, creative, and forward-thinking. Based on how I am these days, I don't know how true this but these qualities are definitely something I'd like to be one day. As a child, I was definitely these things and I want to embrace these fearless qualities again. Astrology has also helped remind me that I'm on a planet. Literally right above our heads is never-ending space. I find this really strange to think about. Living in the city makes it hard to read the stars but I recently got a book on astronomy that can help me understand the objective aspects of astrology and the orbit of planets in our solar system.
School has been hell but it has been nice getting to know more people in my program. I met some really nice people and also some highly intelligent people that make you go wow. I've almost gotten through a quarter of my program and realize that time flies quickly. If I want it to last longer, I may need to make my patchy 6am start a more routine one.
Thanks for reading and hope you are doing well.
